Roulette is a game of chance. There is no way in which you can win every time. Believe us, we wish there was. However, there are ways in which you can swing the odds in your favour.
You may not win every time, but you will certainly increase your chances of winning most of the time. This will ensure that if you do not win anything, you will at least break even.
European Roulette
Always play European Roulette. Never play American Roulette. You know how the Americans are, they love their ‘double portions’, which means the house edge on American Roulette is doubled. This is due to the addition of an extra number. Basically, you have less chance of winning on a spin if you play American Roulette, which is probably not good for a gambler.
Martingale Strategy
This is the most popular of online roulette strategies. Why? Because it works. However, it only works to an extent (more on that in a short while). In theory, you are guaranteed to break even if you follow the Martingale strategy. However, the online casinos have cottoned onto this. Before we dive into that, though. Let us take a look at how the strategy works.
With this betting strategy for roulette, you will be betting on only the parts with even odds (so black or red). If you lose, then you double your bet next time. Because the odds are 2/1, this means that when you do win, you will walk away with something. Here is how this strategy works:
- You bet on black. Let’s say £1
- Red wins
- You bet on black again. This time £2
- Black wins. You broke even.
Now, the major problem with this strategy is that you are doubling your bet each time. This means that a losing streak could see you paying a lot. Most tables will have a betting limit too. This means that you may never be able to recover your losses.
The Fibonacci Method deals with these problems somewhat (we are not going to discuss that method on this page), but even then, you may end up losing a lot of cash if it just is not your day.
Covering the Table
Not something that we would recommend that you do, but some people have success with it. Here are a few different ways in which people bet on different numbers (we will assume the bet is £1 each time)
Betting on 35 numbers: the riskiest way of covering the table. You bet £1 on 35 of the numbers. So £35 per spin of the wheel. Your profit is only £1. You lose £35 if nothing comes up. No idea why people use this method.
17 splits: you split £1 between two adjacent numbers. Outlay is £17, but you only win £1 still. That being said, it is easier to deal with a £17 loss.
4 splits and 2 columns: if I am stupid enough to cover the table, then I go for this one. Bet £5 on any two columns. Then £1 on four different splits. You can win nicely on this and your chances are quite high, although this does require a larger outlay.
Oscar’s Grind
This is a unique system that most people do not talk about. Odd to us, mainly because it works and it is simple to use. When you play, you will increase your bet by 1 each time until you hit £4 (we assume you will start at £1). The bet stays the same when you lose.
You keep following this strategy until you are £1 up, then you reset the process. Although, to be honest, it is called a ‘grind’ for some reason and it can take a while to cover any of the losses that you make. You will never hit the table limit, though. This means that you can continue to use this strategy until you make your money back. You just need a bankroll to support it.
